Joyent’s Bryan Cantrill, VP Engineering, and Brendan Gregg, Performance Engineer, will discuss how Joyent is innovating in cloud analytics, combining the power of real-time visualization tools and years of performance expertise to provide root cause analysis that suggests actionable improvements through all levels of the stack. 

Joyent’s analytics tools reach deeply and broadly. The tools can see where problems are occurring deep within the kernel as well as across hundreds, or even thousands, of servers. They assist service providers and customers alike in understanding where performance problems are and how fixes should be applied.

Speakers:

Bryan Cantrill is VP of Engineering at Joyent. Previously a Distinguished Engineer at Sun Microsystems, Bryan has spent over a decade working on system software, from the guts of the kernel to client-code on the browser and much in between. Bryan led the team that designed and implemented DTrace, a framework troubleshooting kernel and application problems on production systems in real time, and co-founded the Fishworks group, a team applying the most innovative Solaris technologies to the problems of managing data storage.

Brendan Gregg is a Performance Engineer at Joyent.  Brendan is recognized as the world’s foremost DTrace expert and is a published author on the subject. Formerly a top trainer for Sun in APAC, he joined the Fishworks team in 2004 as an engineer and performance lead.
